Doggieland

This is going to be a very photo-heavy post, and very dog-heavy photos. Steve and I are sitting Luke, our friend Rosie's dog. Luke is a 6 month old puppy Rosie rescued from the Ojai Humane Society so she isn't sure what breed he is, but I can tell you that he is the third cutest dog I know!

The photos are a bit blurry because I always use the camera on my phone....someday I will invest in a fancy schmancy camera.

SoCal Earthquake

There was a 5.8 earthquake here in SoCal last week and we had a lot of family and friends calling to make sure we were okay, was there any damage, etc? Well, yes, there was damage in our apartment, we're pretty broken up about it but I do think we'll recover someday:

Fruits! AND Vegetables!

In case you didn't know (have you not met me????) I am vegetarian and I love cooking and food--it helps that my boyfriend is a chef, so I get hyper about things that most people couldn't care less about. Like: FARMERS MARKETS!!!! Whoo-hoo!! Seriously, my favorite way to spend the day starts out with the farmers market, especially the one Ventura hosts downtown on Saturday mornings. I love making my way around all the booths on my first lap, checking out produce and prices and making sure my favorite farmer peeps are there. On my second lap I get down to business, chatting with the farmers about their farming practices (organic much preferred, but I like to patronize the smaller farms that practice organic methods and aren't able to afford the intensive organic certification process) and feeling up their yummy produce. There's something very comforting about knowing who did what to your food and making an informed decision about what to purchase. Anyhoo, I have pics of my new favorite shopping tote and all the fabulous fruit and veg I picked up!

Fricking awesome shopping tote, from www.herbivoreclothing.com LOVE THEM

Fresh produce makes me happyyyyyyyyy!!

My Trip to the Police Station

Yeah, so I got arrested a few weeks ago....a policeman attempted to pull me over and I just kept driving, I was one of those low speed chases you see in LA sometimes on the news. Just kidding! Really had you didn't I? I did go to the police station but it was because some jerk made a counterfeit of my ATM card and stole $300 from my checking account--the nerve!! I think they had one of those skimming devices on the pump at the gas station I went to that morning and got all my info that way. I had to stop my account and ATM card and make a statement at the police station, but luckily BofA gave me all my money back right away. Still, I was not happy and if I ever see the counterfeiting jerks, well.....um I guess I'll yell at them?

Here's me, being mad. Little tip, from the nice lady at BofA--always check anywhere you scan your ATM card for a weird looking little box like device, it might be a skimmer! Skimmers=bad.

Park It

We live across the street from a great neighborhood park and on our days off we take the dogs there sometimes. Melita is obsessive about playing fetch and will play until she literally drops. Steve has a great throwing arm and both dogs take off after the ball like it's their job....and I guess it kind of is!

Steve launching the ball....great form!

Making the dogs wait for the ball

Worn out doggies...Melita's tongue always hangs out the side of her mouth!!

This Beautiful City We Live In

We live in Ventura CA and I think it is the most beautiful place we've lived in so far. It's not my favorite, I liked the Bay Area more and I still get homesick for San Francisco, but Ventura is gorgeous. It's right on the ocean and there are rolling green hills and amazing views. These pics are from Grant's Park and the Serra Cross. The San Buenaventura mission was founded in 1782 by Father Juniper Serra and he had this cross placed on a hill as a guidepost for travelers, and it's still here. I take the dogs up here sometimes, there are great hiking trails and of course the views! It's very peaceful and serene above the city.

Let Sleeping Dogs Lie....On Your Head?

Steve and I don't usually let the dogs sleep with us because they tend to disrupt our sleep. They were so tired from our day at the beach yesterday that we let them sleep with us last night, and Achilles fell asleep on Steve's head! Steve was already dead asleep and didn't even notice--it made for the funniest pic ever!

Dog Walking and Massaging (not at the same time)

I have finally decided to do something conclusive with my career path and I have chosen to become a massage therapist! This is something I've been thinking about for a year and am really excited about. I'll be taking classes at the Kali Institute here in Ventura starting at the end of August. I will keep my full time job and have also picked up dogwalking as a way to supplement our incomes. My first dogwalking job was today and could not have gone better! Anyone who knows me knows I love dogs, more than most people, so this is a good part time gig for me! So, if you live in the Ventura area and want your dog walked or a free massage, hit me up!

Doggies!

These are our pampered little princesses, Achilles and Melita. Achilles is a Jack Russell Terrier and Melita is a Miniature Dachschund, and yes they rule the doghouse.
